May 27, 2025, Washington D.C.: U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, confidently announced a summer 2025 launch for the Trump Gold Card visa program.
In an open forum interview with Axios News held May 21, 2025, Secretary Lutnick gave new and important updates to the Gold Card initiative.
First, interested applicants will be required to register online for the Gold Card program.
Second, the registration website will be “trumpcard.gov.” The website is expected to be launched this week or next. As of today’s date, the trumpcard.gov website is not available to the public and is not open for registration.
Third, details about the Gold Card program will be released “soon after” the launch of the website. Interested applicants will be able to start the registration process prior to the details of the program. As stated by Secretary Lutnick: “All that will come over a matter of the next weeks. Not months, weeks.”
Fourth, all applicants will be subject to vetting before acceptance into the Gold Card program.
Fifth, Secretary Lutnick reiterated that the purpose of the Gold Card program is to “help America pay off its debt…”
As background, on February 25, 2025, President Trump and Secretary Lutnick floated the idea of a new Gold Card permanent residency visa program for investors. The broad parameters of the program were defined as an investment immigration plan, intended to attract foreign investors willing to pay US$5,000,000 for permanent residency in the U.S. The program would offer U.S. tax exemption for the investor’s income earned abroad.
Many variables still remain.
For example, the 1,000-page “Big Beautiful Bill” that recently passed the House of Representatives did not include new legislation creating the Gold Card. And, for those interested in the EB-5 Program, Secretary Lutnick’s recent remarks made no mention of the EB-5 program whatsoever.
